So when I get back.. I’m making everyone Roman food. Meaning the one roman food I conquered damn you placenta… so be prepared. It will be epic. Not really, but it will. Possibly. And you’re all eating it even you Homura, I’ll save some. Will it be made with garum? Look that up, I assure you you will enjoy the imagery. Maybe it will have garum. Maybe it won’t. Who knows?
Did you know that mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes make women at higher risk for breast cancer? I didn’t, I just looked over at the book I’m supposed to be studying and wrote the first thing I saw that didn’t say ‘milk glands’ or ‘ducts.’ So that means I better go study.
If I don’t come back that’s because I decided banging my head repeatedly against a wall would be a better plan then going to this test. So it’s a fifty fifty thing.

Ok, I now have another reason classics majors are cool - our banquets have open bars.
I love how I'm sitting there with a glass of wine and my latin prof's, at the same table, exact answer to my asking if it was ok (being underage and all) was 'Hell if I care, load up girl.'
The induction part kind of blew but the banquet was awesome. All the people I really like from my latin class were there and we stayed until the caterers kicked us out.
And I got nominated twice for an officer position and elected to.. Uh.. publicity or something, I can't remember. It was nice just being nominated, honestly. All and all it was a very good experience. I'm glad I got involved in this 'society' or whatever it's called.
NOW, the real reason I signed on (I'm falling asleep as we speak) JULIA! I want YOU to write me a long, loooong e-mail telling me all about your life these past weeks because I suck and never get to talk to you D:

You know what? My Latin teacher is gone for a week, there's a three day weekend - that means no homework! None! It's... amazing O_O And weird. But wonderful! I am going to play video games and finally watch Sweeney Todd and... NOT do latin <3
Speaking of latin Colbert singing Happy Birthday in latin was pretty amazing. I'm not sure how correct it was - I think laeta would have been better than felicem but... still awesome.

- I have an archeology project due next week boo
+ I finally got Sweeney Todd on dvd :D
- I don't have time to watch it until maybe saturday D:
+ I got my induction letter from Eta Sigma Phi.
++ The department waived the 35 dollar membership fee for me since I helped a lot at the convention. ;_; That's so nice of them.
+ I had a very good advising meeting and found out I can pretty much double major on both Classics tracks (Civilization and Language) if I continue on the way I am. Apparently I'm really ahead in credits for my major
-I seriously doubt I'll finish my gen eds promptly at this rate..
- I miss talking to Homura. I barely get to talk to Hali anymore let alone my best friend.
+ Hali is going to be here tomorrow :D I plan on annoying my suitemates with our incredibly loud chatter allllll night. Take that Nanim >D
-I fainted when I gave blood. Haha, that's what happens when you don't eat or sleep before giving apparently... still pretty funny though. Maybe it should be a plus. Being freaked out over was retarded though.

Fuck this shit, I am not going to class today (except the test..)
I don't want to hear about subjunctives, and get my homework translation mocked and torn apart because I had no fricken idea what I was doing, and stress and learn about AIDS. This will be.. the first time I missed class this semester.
..I feel terrible already. Oh well, I'll regret it later, I'm going back to sleep.
PS - Homura- he's an empty doughnut box that conquered sexy time. And that commercial still isn't appealing. Just isn't my cup of tea.

Yes, from my header you can tell I'm on the Phoenix Wright bandwagon.
For those of you who don't know it's just the best DS game EVER (besides Zelda... maybe.). It's epic lawyer drama and you get to yell 'OBJECTION!' and point your finger and it's AWESOME. You can shout 'HOLD IT!' or 'TAKE THAT!' too but I like going with the classics. Point being - if you have a DS and like awesome you should get this game.
Not that I ever get time to play it.
I get to go to a fancy banquet~ My latin teacher is getting some 'life time achievement' thing and is making a speech. I'd go just for the speech, he's one warped guy. It's guaranteed to be worth a listen.
I'm worried since I have nothing nice to wear... since it's 'formal' or some bullshit. Jeans won't cut it apparently. I might.. have to go clothes shopping. So, so, so gross. Ugh. Maybe they'll have UMass dress pants in the UMass store. They have everything else.
The conventions going pretty great actually. Classics majors are pretty much the best people I've ever met. We played this trivia game and it was epic. See, I can socialize too. Just.. only with nerds. AND I got another job next semester besides TAing! Prof. Philipides is made of Greek win.
I really should be sleeping since I'm getting up at 6:30 tomorrow to show clueless, out of state classics majors how to get to Bartlett Hall without getting lost and/or mugged. I should bring a bat to ward of zombies (the game is back in motion and I am sadly not part of it. No time :[ )

This is how full of fail I am - I look over at my desk and Maria's christmas gift is still lying there, all wrapped up and pretty yet unsent. This of course is not much worse then Homura's gift which is currently rotting away at my house in obnoxiously christmas-y wrapping paper but that's not bad since we sort of agreed we'd exchange those gifts when we saw each other. Point being there is no excuse for Maria's. I shall one day send it. Probably in the summer if when I get a job. I am so sorry Maria :[
So... been kind of busy with the convention coming up. Spent a relatively enjoyable afternoon filling folders with classics propaganda (no seriously, there was a pamphlet that said 'What can Latin do for you?) and listening to various professors and grad students threaten this kid named Jesse because he wants to go to Georgia for grad school. The convention is this weekend and it's taking up my free time from now til monday. It's... great.
Alot of kids coming from Monmouth College. It would have been cool if it was someone I knew.
My phone has been off and on. It sucks that it broke in the middle of spring break. It's kind of hard to contact people with no contact info...

So I came into Latin and this was the assignment on the board -

Some days I seriously love being a classics major.
Which reminds me, I am sorry f-list, but my Greek Myth/Civ teacher is the best teacher ever. Hands down. Better than the Gart, which is something I never thought I'd say... In the span of 55 minutes he did two things-
1) Made me believe that the library of Alexandria is still out there (conspiracy theories ftw)
2) Believe that the creators of Indiana Jones found the journals of Marios Phillippedes and were inspired to make their movie.
A whole class of conspiracies, ancient unread texts, United Nations, intelligence contacts, a chase across countries... Seriously, no teacher can beat that shit.
I feel like I'm forgetting something... whatever, I go home on thursday.

So.. it's definitely 5 in the morning. Not very cool to be honest. I'm doing latin homework (surprise surprise) but I needed a break so.. I decided to do this.
We've had these two instances of 'messages threatening violence' in two different boys bathrooms around campus lately and it's sort of annoying/freaking me out. Bomb threats never freaked me out - we had so many in intermediate/high school it was just a good excuse to stay home and nothing more. But this shit, it does kind of put me on edge. Virginia Tech shook me when it happened and now this guy or girl or whoever - once wasn't so frightening but twice? It almost feels like the person is gathering the courage to do it or something. Either that or this is some really retarded attempt to stop classes. Isn't going to work douchebag, this is UMass, they rarely cancel for blizzards let alone one threat.
Anyway I really just want to get home. I miss Hali alot and I'm.. I guess over worked is the best word? Kitchell has gotten a bit better about latin but he still isn't exactly giving us breaks. I miss being able to sleep properly. It would just be nice to see everyone again, eat real food, sleep without fucking Nanim and her boyfriend (who is still here... and now sleeping in the lounge for whatever reason.) making noise at ungodly hours, and not worry constantly about latin for a change.
Not only that but I have yet to read the new Umbrella Academy and Young Avengers. How am I supposed to know what's going on in the comic world without James there to give me the play by play?
Besides that.. oh, I found out my aunt set up a trust fund for me and my sister. She introduced me to her lawyer and everything, so I would know how to reach it and all. It's.. really nice. My family's never been very well off financially - I mean, we're not poor persay, there were the occasional times we had to watch the budget to make sure we had enough for groceries and all but we never went without eating or heat for a week. It's just the kind of thing where I always had to worry about how things were going to get paid for - trips, college, textbooks, that sort of thing. It's just kind of good to know hey, if worse comes to worse I actually do have something to fall back on now. Considering my line of studies and the job market for them.. that's a really good thought.
I just hope my aunt's not doing this because she thinks she's going to die soon. If she dies I'm moving to.. I don't know, Canada or Iceland and becoming a hermit.
Yeah, one last thing. I was thinking the other day about what I admire most in my friends and I decided to write it down for you guys. I always mean to thank people or say these things to them but never do.. so here. It's... a brand new meme I guess. Something like that.
Alright, I was originally going to do on-line friends too but this is taking too long just doing real life friends, so next time I make a post I'll do on-line friends. Sorry, I really shouldn't be procrastinating on latin anyway..
